2016 is definitely a topsy-turvy ride; it's full of ups and downs. Untimely accidents, deaths of legendary stars, gun violence— these were just some of the sad happenings of the year that's about to end. On the brighter side, there are also amazing events in this year such as technology advancements, sports championships and population increase of rare species.

The previous years weren't that lucky enough for Leonardo to get the most coveted Oscar Award. He started his career way back in 1980's and after almost 3 decades of waiting and wishful thinking, his dreams became a reality. 2016 is definitely a great year for him because with 4 heartbreak nominations for the past years, he finally won his first ever Oscar award through the movie, 'The Revenant'. A well-deserved award for such versatile actor!
Population Growth for Tigers and other rare species
2016 tally shows the increase of tiger population in the whole world. Based from the count made by the World Wildlife Fund, there are currently 3,890 tigers. With the serious issue of extinction of these rare wild animals, many advocates are very happy with the good news because this marks the very first drastic increase of tigers after more than a century. And not only that, rare species like manatees and pandas have also increased its number.
Coffee Consumption For Cancer Avoidance
Experts during a convention organized by the World Health Organization announced that regular intake of coffee has proven to help curtail cancer. Further, the World Cancer Research Fund International also took account of the benefits of drinking coffee everyday in protecting against multiple types of cancer.

This year is a very amazing phase for aerospace enthusiasts and fanatics as Juturna has successfully reached Jupiter after a 1.7-billion-mile or technically, a five-year journey. With over 6 million homes powered by solar panels, California has ultimately set a solar record. The record was realized last July 12, 2016 and has been a great and efficient way of obtaining a renewable energy by the use of sunlight.
Cleveland Won an NBA Championship
For all die-hard Cavs, 2016 is no doubt the best of the bests. The Cleveland Cavaliers won their first NBA Championship after 3 conference playoffs. The road to the championship was a very difficult and heart-thumping ride, but in the end the Cavs showed resilience and maturity to clinched the 2016 NBA title.
