Man Washing A Car Wheel
There is nothing that beats the feeling of washing your car at home on a lazy Saturday afternoon. This is the point in time when you can feel the proudest of your car, and clean it to perfection. It is also a good exercise that allows you to thoroughly inspect the exterior of the car in detail. If you are a family person, then this is a fun event that you can do with your kids or your spouse and bond better. Most people, however, fear to do this as they have no idea how they can properly wash their cars without damaging anything and incurring an additional cost.

So, let us break down home car washing and make you a car cleaning expert so that you can enjoy the therapeutic process that is home car washing. In this article, we look at the important items that you will use to not only clean your car but also maintain its perfect appearance. This is with the aim of minimizing those eyesore swirl marks.

Items that you require

1.    Car wash shampoo

Gone are the days where people simply washed their cars with dish soap or laundry detergent. This is because the dish detergent is harmful to your car. This is a cleaning agent that is made to eat away at grease and food remnants. It, however, does not discriminate when it comes to stripping away your car wax, rubber seals, and plastic moldings. It simply eats away at the exterior of your car and leaves it in a worse state than before. What you need to do is go for a shampoo that is specifically designed for washing cars. A car wash shampoo can be evaluated by its gloss enhancing ability, concentration, foaming ability, pH balance, and lubricity. A good shampoo should clean your car while leaving everything else intact.

2.    Car wash mitts

A good car wash mitt needs to be one that is made of nap microfiber of any length and sheepskin or sponge material. This can either be the synthetic or the genuine type. Everyone has their preference when it comes to washing mitts, but an alternative that never fails is a mitt with long microfibers. This mitt goes the extra mile by removing road pitch, grime, and dirt while at the same time applying a proper lather on your car paint. It also holds a lot of water and car solution, making it easier to clean and rinse your car. A soft brush can be substituted in the case of big vehicles.

3.    Car wash buckets

You can go for a 3.5 gallon or a 5-gallon bucket. A good way to wash the car is to use the two bucket method where two different buckets are involved, one holds the washing solution and the other the clean water.

4.    Grit guard inserts

This is an essential piece of plastic if you want to avoid reapplying the dirt to your car. It sits at the bottom of the bucket, fileting the dirt that leaves the mitt to the bottom thanks to the four lateral fins. This means that your mitt will not pick up the dirt that it has just removed from the car, preventing swirls.
