Where do you find your information?

Information most needed by clients: Company and Policy Number

A lot of people need help either finding their policy number or what company they’re independent insurance agent has put them with.

Here are a couple tips to help you track down those seemingly elusive pieces of information and also a few reasons why you may need to use them (Important reasons!, read all to find out)

1.)

Usually when your agent binds your policy he prints you a few copies of information. One being your ID card or “proof of insurance”,

Its what you keep in your glove box. Make sure you have an extra copy of this so you can keep a handy copy for reference. Its useful to put it on your fridge at home

using a magnet or maybe in your file.

2.)

The Other printed form is a Declaration Page. A Declaration Page has all of your policy information on it. It has a breakdown of premium per car and coverage, shows your coverages,

and many other policy details. Make sure your keep this in a place where you can always refer back to this. Here is a sample picture below of what a “Dec page” looks like.

A few good reasons to have this information handy include the following:

  • In case of a emergency. A wreck, accident, and any kind of situation where you may have to call your insurance company or give your information to another party
  • To make your payment!. Yes, we all have to do it and its no fun but it pays to have your information handy when you paying your bill. Pun not intended.
  • Make sure you have proper coverage’s. Sometimes you need to check your policy from time to time to make sure  you’re not over covered or under covered. Also you may have to get with your lien holder or bank that provided your loan on your vehicle to give them your information. Its actually very common if you not familiar with how a lien holder works. And most of the time you will have had to give you agent your bank info to add to your policy.
