How does PIP coverage benefit me as an auto insurance customer in Kansas?

Many of our Kansas car insurance customers ask us what is this PIP coverage on my auto policy? And is it costing me extra money? We hear this question a lot and we completely understand that our Kansas auto insurance customers want to keep their premiums at the lowest cost and want nothing extra at all on their auto policy. As we all know car insurance is not where we as humans want to spend our hard earned money and at Cheapest Auto Insurance in Wichita and Cheapest Auto Insurance in Overland Park we understand this completely; as an added side note we write insurance for the entire state of Kansas.

The exact definition of PIP coverage is as follows: PIP stands for personal insurance protection (personal injury protection), and it is an extension of car insurance that covers medical expenses and, in many cases, lost wages. It is often called “no-fault” coverage because its inherent comprehensiveness pays out claims agnostic of who is at fault in the accident. An easier explanation to what PIP is, is basically it pays for your medical expenses or lost wages if you have an accident whether at fault or not. Which is huge and such a benefit to all Kansas auto insurance customers.

A few things to understand about PIP coverage

PIP is actually a state law to have in Kansas. Kansas is one of the few states that requires this. The required coverage amount for PIP is $4500, nothing more or nothing less. If you feel like this amount may not be sufficient for your peace of mind in case you are ever in an accident than you can always add Medical payments coverage to your policy to help with those medical bills in case you have an accident that caused damage to your body. The one difference between PIP and Medical payments coverage in Kansas is that Medical payments coverage does not cover against loss of wages and PIP coverage does, which is very important to know.
