Car Driving Down Road
Car accidents are everywhere. People are driving faster and faster. Unfortunate events still happen even if you are very careful. The question is, “Do you have an auto insurance?”

Auto insurance is very important for the victim and the accused. The state of Arkansas have imposed Auto Insurance Laws and Regulations to educate drivers and to ensure assistance to both parties.

These are some important things you need to know about the importance of auto insurance in the state of Arkansas.

  • At-Fault State

Arkansas is an “at-fault” state which means that the law requires all drivers to carry an auto insurance, in case of an accident. The “at-fault” clause  signifies that the driver at fault is primarily responsible for all injuries and property damage caused by the accident.

  • Mandatory Coverage

Every automobile owner must have an auto insurance to cover liability. The insurance           coverage will pay for any claims of the victim, with the insured at fault during an accident.       The minimum liability required by law is $25,000 bodily injury per person, $25,000 property damage per accident and $50,000 total bodily injury per accident, in case of      multiple victims. The auto insurance also covers legal defense if a lawsuit is brought to the   at-fault driver as a result of a covered accident.

  • Other Coverage Options

The Arkansas law only requires driver to buy an auto insurance for financial protection, in case of costly incidents. However, there are other coverage options you can add to your policy such as:

  • PIP or Personal Injury Protection– The insurer pays the hospitalization and other costs of the insured during an accident, regardless of who was at fault.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage– The coverage gives additional security if the other individual involved does not have an auto insurance or the coverage of is not enough to cover all the losses.
  • Comprehensive Coverage- A comprehensive coverage secures your vehicle from acts of nature or other unfortunate events not related with car functions.
  • Collision Coverage- It is an additional protection if your automobile is damaged or destroyed during an accident.

These optional coverage may be an additional expense but its benefits are valuable.

  • Car Rental Coverage

The inclusion of liability coverage if you rent a car, varies per company. It should be verified with your agent if your policy covers the rental agency’s automobile, if you are at fault in an accident.

Having an auto insurance does not only secure your car but also your life. Be sure you have to purchase an insurance coverage to avoid the hassle and stressful coping of financial mishaps. Make it a habit to read your insurance policy. Know what are the terms and conditions. There may be certain discounts you can avail of.
